Tango as a Practice of Embodied Mindfulness, Intimacy and Musicality
December 5 - 6th, 2013 - Kauai, Hawaii
Presenter(s): Risa Kaparo, PhD
Gregory "Grisha" Nisnevich
Tango is an ecstatic dance of exquisite attunement. Celebrate the synergy of dancing with a partner as if you shared one heart and four legs. Grisha, a world-class concert musician and Tango dancer will teach musicality and play with the various rhythmical origins of Tango − demonstrating how these counter rhythms inspire improvisation and engender a dynamic and creative tension with a partner.
Risa Kaparo, who developed the system of Somatic Learning, and is herself a Tango dancer who has studied internationally, will help you to explore how to move with new freedom and fluidity. The practice of Tango transforms movement into a meditation through engaging your somatic intelligence. Savoring the “drinking in and kissing back” of the Tango embrace enhances your felt sense of intimacy and radical aliveness. Receiving the support of the ground, you naturally release patterns of tension. Sustaining extension and alignment, you move with beauty, balance and grace.
Come alone or with a partner. Open to all levels, beginner to advanced dancers. Whatever your level, you will enjoy a heightened sense of musicality, joy and ease.
